First make sure you have selected the image and then go under Picture Tools and Format tab into Size section. Click on “Crop” and notice the edge of the image changing. Now you can drag those little black spots on the edge to have the image show exactly what you want and nothing more.

How to crop a picture? | Word 2007
Select a picture. The Picture Tools tab should open automaticaly. Go to the Size section and press the “Crop” button. Markings will appear on the picture borders. Your mouse cursor will change when you hover over them. Hold and Drag your mouse to the size where you want to crop your image.
