To start with certain character you can use custom bullets. Go to Home tab and Paragraph section. Choose Bullets down arrow.

Select text box. Go to ribbon under Shape Format. In the Share Styles section click on Shape Outline. Choose No Outline
Second Option is to select box. Under Shape Format and Shape Styles click on the Format Shape ( Or right click on the text box line and choose Format Shape)

Under Marker Type select whether you want the markers to be Automatic, None or Built-in. “Automatic” comes with the chart type, “None” obviously means that no markers are used and “Built-in” enables you to select from the down appearing menu the more suitable marker. Under “Size” you can determine the size of the marker as well.
